1 - FTP Added to Command
Line Interface
PentaCLI-PRO includes a new addition : chFTP. This
is a "State of the Art" full command line based
FTP client which includes both normal and SSL connectivity.
You may use chFTP to access files on other machines uploading
or downloading them. It is completely integrated with the
other PentaCLI-PRO components. Every feature that a command
line user can think of has been included in our new FTP
client for the Command Line.
The following FTP commands are available:
- Send (Put) local file(s) to remote folder/file
- Receive (Get) remote file(s) to local folder/file
- List contents of a remote folder
- Delete remote file(s)
- Rename a remote file - This can also be used to Move
files or folders.
- Create a remote folder
- Remove (i.e. Delete) a remote folder
- Download through http (instead of ftp) remote file(s)
to a local folder/file
The options offered reflect the options offered by PentaFTP
(ASCII/Binary Transfer.overwrite warning, resume interrupted
file transfer, SSL, Connect through Proxy, Passive Mode
and more).
2 - PentaCLI-PRO
Command Line Wizard and the "Fat Finger Syndrome"
Here at PentaWare there used to be days in which some of
us seemed to be afflicted by the Fat Finger Syndrome
when setting up command line batch files.
What happened was that some command strings didn't always
get typed in using the right syntax. When the batch file
would get run there would inevitably be an error.
Tracking down command line syntax errors can at times be
frustrating and time consuming.
So, after talking with some of our power users of the command
line that complained about occasionally experiencing the
same sort of problem, we designed and created an all inclusive
GUI wizard to assist our users in creating command line
strings.
And this isn't just any old wizard because you can perform
11 different tasks effortlessly. The various tasks
you can do range from sending a file via a secure (SSL)
FTP file transfer to someone to burning specific files to
a CD...all with just a few simple clicks of your mouse.
Anyone can use this wizard - it's that simple. For
example you will be able to back up important files or entire
folders to a multi-volume zip archive, FTP the single archive
segments to a secure server and then burn them to a DVD.
