A Self Extracting Archive (a.k.a. SFX File) is a Compressed
Archive that can unzip itself without the use of a compression
program.
To do this, PentaSFX converts a Compressed Archive (ZIP,
ZIPX and
ZGB only for now) into an
executable file (with an .EXE extension).
Splitting is also available through our SFX (Self Extracting)
files. You may split a large archive into sections of the size
you prefer. This can be useful when emailing attachments to
sites which enforce size limits on incoming email messages.
Running an SFX file will automatically unzip the files inside:
To the folder the SFX file is in,
To a user selected folder or
To a specific folder designated when the SFX file was
created.
PentaSFX also offers access to our CD/DVD burning features,
thus allowing you to:
create CD's or DVD's containing a newly
created SFX file (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R and
DVD+RW formats are supported) .
