Redaction Redaction is a feature that allows you to REMOVE sensitive information from a PDF document. PentaPDF Editor will black out sensitive text or other information, permanently deleting the content from the PDF document. Some may recall an episode of some years ago that saw a U.S. government document released with many terms "redacted". In truth the text simply had a black highlight placed on top so it was possible to "read" the text anyway. This won't happen with PentaPDF Editor Redaction.
Redact Single Word(s) from a PDF Document
Mass Redact Word(s) from a PDF Document - Redact EVERY reference to a given term or string of terms within a PDF document.
Markup features Highlight text such as this highlighted text

PDF/A File Handling

PDF/A refers to an ISO Standard for using the PDF format to produce files that are appropriate for long-term archiving of electronic documents. Being designed for long-time storage PDF/A files are not intended to be modified at a later date and are therefore treated like read-only files that in general do not allow for any further editing. The editing features Redacting, Commenting, Rearranging (moving, duplicating, deleting) Pages, Importing Pages from another PDF/A document or from an Image Scanner as well as Digitally Signing are an exception in this case. They can be applied to existing PDF/A-1b documents using PentaPDF Editor.

PDF/A documents created using PentaPDF-PRO are PDF/A-1b compliant. You can see that a PentaPDF-PRO document has been created based on the PDF/A Standard by checking the 'Subject' area of the document Properties screen. Editing of PDF/A documents using PentaPDF Editor is available only for PDF/A-1b compliant PDF/A documents. Read more about PDF/A Handling in PentaWare's PentaPDF Utilities.
