1 - We are pleased to announce
the release of PentaSuite-PRO Version 8.1 with major changes
to our PDF Creator
PentaSuite-PRO Version 8.1 has a
number of minor changes and corrections (listed on the What's
New Page). The real changes can be found in PentaPDF-PRO
version 3.0.
This new version of PentaWare's PDF Creator is able to create PDF
documents up to 50% faster than it's predecessor version 2.0. In our time tests,
PentaPDF-PRO version 2.0 took 45 seconds to create a PDF file out of a 96 page Microsoft
Word document but it only took 22 seconds for version 3.0.
This allows for:
- Greatly enhanced speed in generating PDF files. PDF creation now takes 50% of the time
required by the previous version while maintaining excellent respondence to the
originating document.
- We have added PDF 1.5 and 128 bit encryption to guarantee compatibility with Acrobat
Version 6.0.
- We have added Selectable PDF version (from 1.0 to 1.5).
This is important for PDF string encryption requirements (40 bit or 128 bit) as well as
for destination applications that may require PDF files created using different versions.
Unicode character set is supported only from PDF version 1.3 or greater.
- Better handling of Paper sizes. Some Custom sizes are now supported based on the file to
be converted.
- Much improved PDF creation from PowerPoint presentations.
- Conversion between different versions of PDF (from 1.4 to 1.2 for example) is now
available with PentaCLI-PRO (our command line add-on for PentaSuite-PRO and PentaSuite
Business-PRO).
- PowerPoint output is now always enabled. There were some issues in
previous versions of PentaPDF with some older versions of Microsoft Office which did not
allow PDF creation from some PowerPoint files.
- Starting and ending page number in the range of document pages to convert can be zero.
This can happen, for example, when a Word document has a cover page with page 1 being the
second page
- Addition of Color Mode under Preferences allowing for
PDF output in:
- RGB
- CMYK
- Grayscale
- Enhanced management of Image resolution when creating PDF files the addition of Selectable
DPI settings for images (from 72 DPI to 2048 DPI).
All the new PDF features are available with PentaSuite Server Editions.
